The Daily Grind coffee house in the Canton Firehouse is located at the top of O'Donnell Square in the trendy and charming section of Canton in Baltimore, MD dotted by various boutiques, pubs and restaurants. Nicknamed the "Firehouse Grind", this little gem of a coffee shop on the square presents a very cozy but very "unusual" venue to enjoy coffee, breakfast, lunch, gourmet desserts and to meet friends, neighbors, and business associates. The Firehouse Grind also plays host to numerous civic and charitable organizations. Additionally, we offer free Wi-Fi. Established in late 2007, local Canton resident and attorney, Mark A. Epstein, completely renovated the interior to give it a real "firehouse-like" feel. It features authentic original murals of firefighting scenes from the Great Baltimore Fire of 1904 as painted by noted local artist Uri Victorov; a very real-looking firefighter clothed in authentic "turn-out" firefighting attire donated by retired Baltimore fire officer, Walt Lemmon, is seen sliding down the original firehouse "firepole". stainless steel pendant lighting dots the main floor, with fancy crown moldings bordering the ceilings. The entire perimeter of the upper wall areas is covered with the firehouse signature red and black checkerboard pattern, all hand-painted. |
