The Daily Grind  coffee house in the Canton Firehouse is located at the top of O'Donnell Square in the trendy and charming section of Canton in Baltimore, MD dotted by various boutiques, pubs and restaurants. Nicknamed the "Firehouse Grind", this little gem of a coffee shop on the square presents a very cozy but very "unusual" venue to enjoy coffee, breakfast, lunch, gourmet desserts and to meet friends, neighbors, and business associates. The Firehouse Grind also plays host to numerous civic and charitable organizations. Additionally, we offer free Wi-Fi. Established in late 2007, local Canton resident and attorney, Mark A. Epstein, completely renovated the interior to give it a real "firehouse-like" feel. It features authentic original murals of firefighting scenes from the Great Baltimore Fire of 1904 as painted by noted local artist Uri Victorov; a very real-looking firefighter clothed in authentic "turn-out" firefighting attire donated by retired Baltimore fire officer, Walt Lemmon, is seen sliding down the original firehouse "firepole". stainless steel pendant lighting dots the main floor, with fancy crown moldings bordering the ceilings. The entire perimeter of the upper wall areas is covered with the firehouse signature red and black checkerboard pattern, all hand-painted.

And with an unrelenting vigil over O'Donnell Square on fair weather days, the renowned Blues Brothers, Jake and Ellwood, sit at their own table beneath umbrella (check 'em out inside The Grind on foul weather days), sipping their Daily Grind Coffee and chomping on a chunk of pie.

Of special note is the giant 11 foot Big Screen on the back wall which is projected with movies and dvd concerts, with a complete Orb surround sound speaker system. The same speaker system was used by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in its recent exhibit at Las Vegas. "The Grind" provides shows on the big screen featuring Paul McCartney, Bob Dylan in the 60's, Sting, Cold Play, Bare Naked Ladies and Billy Joel.

Movie night is also being featured at The Grind, with everything from cakes and pies to popcorn. Customers can even BYOB of wine (subject to corkage fee). Check the Events page of this site for movie schedules.
